Rhyncolure: Effectively attracts the American Palm Weevil which is the main vector for the Red Ring Disease in Coconut Trees
Three major symptoms of the Red Ring Disease are –
- The yellowing and drying that starts on the oldest leaves and then progresses to the youngest leaves
- The youngest leaves produced are small in size and often deformed
- Internally the plants show discolored areas on the trunk, which in the case of the coconut form a reddish ring
Rhyncolure contain the pheromone rhynchophorol, which allows the regulated release of the substance into the environment. This bait attracts adult weevils of both sexes, and once it has been place in the field, its effect last for approximately three months
1 Acre requires 1 Rhynco-Lure Trap
